If you are like me, your veins are small and conniving.

The next time you need to visit a phlebotomist, make sure you are well-hydrated. That means drink a lot of water the day before the appointment and the day of. (Starting a day earlier won’t hurt, either.)

Also, warming the area (usually with a heating pad) that is going to be poked will help as well.

And finally, anxiety closes those veins right down, so if you can, stay relaxed – distracted if need be.
