other people’s handiwork

A friend of mine threw me a birthday party this weekend. We had a scavenger hunt at a local outdoor mall, then went back to her place to see who won, then played games: pin the tail on the donkey, a variation on hot potato, a variation on Marco Polo, Fact or Crap (with trivia taken from participants before the party), and a piñata. We had some food and drink and a hilariously good time. If you haven’t had a party with kids’ party games since you were a kid, I highly recommend it. Good times.

And now, some good stuff I read this week:

How to Make Your Own Shampoo from Money Crashers: The recipe I’ve blogged about is here, but there is another recipe for liquid homemade shampoo. I haven’t tried it, so I have no opinion about it, but I thought I’d share it. If you try it, let me know how you like it!

The Worst Breakfasts in America from Yahoo! Health: We all know (I think) that restaurant meals are typically loaded with calories, fat, and sodium, and that the portions are enough for two to three people. Every now and then, one of these lists comes out. They’re good reminders of just how much we might inadvertently ingest in one sitting…

Want to Feel Happier? Read Something for Fun from The Happiness Project: I love reading and I sometimes don’t let myself read for pleasure. Do you? Doing things that are fun and relaxing make for a healthier, happier you.

N-1 from Seth’s Blog: A very short simple post on simplification.

ChiRunning: Ultimate Running Enlightenment or Expensive Stupid Crap? from No Meat Athlete: If you are at all into running — a serious runner or still in the throes of Couch-to-5K — check out this post.
